As a child, I used to go to the hills around my house to enjoy the peace and quiet, and often found more interesting things as well. After the rigidity of school and home life, the seeming chaos of nature held a real appeal for me. As I started to grow in my education, and particularly in my knowledge of mathematics, I started to realize that what I first took for chaos was just a different kind of pattern. I started to see some predictability within the chaos, and also how random chance could shift the pattern into something new or different.

Now, as an adult and parent in an age of climate-related disasters, fast fashion, and burgeoning tech waste, I believe it is our responsibility to help youth develop a connection to nature in hopes that they can reverse the trend our forebears started. Because I know stewardship can be taught and nurtured. I hope you join us on our adventures.
